ONLINE Independent Studio in Acrylics
11 Week Class ONLINE | Registration opens 2026-10-15 12:00 PM
This course is designed to help you build confidence and independence in painting in acrylics. You will explore and refine your choice of paint (fluid, heavy, and mediums), subject matter (from image-based to abstraction), and application techniques. Conversations will take place at the beginning of each class using uploaded images in Google Drive, encouraging students to speak about their work and current developments with the support of fellow students and the instructor. Intermediate and advanced level students will focus on honing their personal voice, developing core concepts, and preparing for independent studio practice and exhibition.
Students should be prepared to begin working in the first class. If a student is unsure of where to start, the instructor will provide a beginning point.

Brian's paintings are expressive, visceral and textured manipulations of acrylic paint. He has explored aerial and street views of city landscapes, Ontario wetlands and bogs in his work. In the last 10 years, he has focused on the intersection between digital technology and painting. Currently, he has returned to a pure painting practice. He has been an art instructor at the Toronto School of Art and a professor of Fine Art at Centennial College. Burnett has exhibited regularly since 1979 in Canada, the USA, and the UK. His work is included in many prominent public, corporate and private collections in Canada and the USA.
