Collage as Paper Sculpture

10 Week Class | Registration opens 2026-10-15 12:00 PM

This workshop expands our understanding of collage by borrowing techniques from sculpture, photography, origami, and installation. Over the course of the class, participants will experiment with magazines, newspapers, printed photographs, and found paper materials to create collages that move beyond the flat page. Through cutting, folding, layering, weaving, and assembling, we will explore paper as a flexible sculptural material.

Projects may include layered paper environments, geometric forms, origami and kirigami structures, paper spheres, freestanding sculptures, and hanging mobiles. We will also be staging paper sculptures on tabletop sets and photograph our three dimensional creations and play with flattening form in a photographic way. Participants will learn how composition, colour, texture, scale, light, and shadow can transform two-dimensional images into three-dimensional forms. The workshop encourages experimentation and playful material exploration while introducing practical techniques for constructing and displaying paper-based artwork.

No previous collage or sculpture experience is required.

Note: There will be no class Monday, February 15th for the Family Day Holiday.

Base Tuition: $500 Total
