Painting Techniques in Acrylics

11 Week Class ONLINE | Registration opens 2026-07-02 12:00 PM

This ONLINE course is designed for individual students who have little or no experience in painting with acrylics. Getting a foundation in acrylics with the use of correct mediums (additives) will form a strong foundation for the first-time painters allowing them to progress through future painting courses with confidence. The primary focus will be to introduce acrylic paint handling, colour mixing via various practical exercises and hands on painting projects. Each project will focus on a unique paint application, tonal, smooth colour blending, glazing, gestural, staining and direct Impasto approaches will all be introduced. Powerpoint presentations, YouTube videos and instructor demonstrations, will allow students time to work in their own home studio. Each class will be divided into presentations, demos, then practical studio time for the students.

Notes:
- It is recommended that students have a basic understanding of drawing or have completed Introduction to Drawing and a passion to learn how to paint. Oil painters wishing to switch to acrylics are also welcome.
- There will be no class on Monday, October 12th due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
