Handbuilding: Colour Explorations

6 Week Class | Registration opens 2026-07-02 12:00 PM

This intermediate handbuilding course explores colour and surface expression through the use of coloured slips, layered surface techniques and coloured clay accents. Students will have an opportunity to create both functional and sculptural forms while experimenting with approaches such as sgraffito, inlay, slip trailing, transfer and resist techniques. Emphasis is placed on experimentation and developing an individual visual language through colour and surface. Working with pinch, coil, slab and constructed forms, participants will investigate how colour can become integrated into the clay itself and enhanced through the studio’s glaze selection.

Note: This course will not cover the technique of Nerikomi.

Base Tuition:
 $377 + Material Fee: $90 = $467 Total
