This three-day intensive painting workshop focuses on brushwork and mark-making as a primary expressive and descriptive tool. Through a series of demonstrations, slideshows, exercises and extended studio sessions, students will explore how different kinds of marks - controlled, loose, economical and experimental - can shape form, space and meaning in a painting. Emphasis will be placed on brush handling, the relationship between hand, tool and surface while developing confidence in making decisive marks. Participants will work with traditional brushes as well as alternative tools, exploring how material choices affect gesture, texture and visual language.
The workshop is designed for painters at all levels who want to loosen habits, sharpen intention and deepen their sensitivity to touch and surface.
Notes: - The workshop will be taught in oils but acrylics are welcome.
- All levels welcome, however, some drawing and painting experience is recommended.
