This course will guide the participants through a contemporary/classic approach to drawing the human figure, touching on the major foundations of the drawing process: gesture drawing, contour and mass drawing, measurement and proportion, and some consideration of light and tone.

Instruction consists of drawing from the model, supplemented by short lectures, demonstrations and handouts. Focus in this class will mostly be the undressed bodies of people, the exercises processes used can apply with equal relevance to most other observational drawing situations. Primary emphasis is on the overall figure. Detailed areas such as heads and faces are reviewed, but not in depth.
