Painting Trees & Forests

This course is designed to explore the art of painting trees and forests, guiding students through essential techniques to capture the textures, colors, and atmosphere of wooded landscapes. During this course you will engage in guided exercises to learn how to paint various types of trees, create depth and perspective in forest scenes, and develop key painting skills. Topics will include colour mixing for natural greens and earth tones, brushwork for foliage and bark textures, and composition strategies to bring your landscapes to life.

Leila Refahi
Leila is a visual artist, researcher, and educator working across painting, installation, and digital media. Her practice explores environmental issues such as climate change, ecological loss, and endangered species, with a strong focus on socially engaged and participatory art. Through her work, she is interested in how art can raise environmental awareness and contribute to shared knowledge within communities. Refahi has presented six solo exhibitions and participated in over 60 national and international group exhibitions and festivals.
