In this 4 day workshop we will explore the ancient and versatile medium of ink on various grounds and with a variety of tools. We will be working with Japanese paper, watercolour paper, cartridge paper, Yupo and more, using skewers, chopsticks, plant based sticks, dip pens and brushes, exploring line, texture, washes, composition and negative space. We will be working from imagination and observation using objects, memory and photographs as well as creating abstract compositions. Through examination, presentations and demonstrations we will explore the possibilities of ink and ink making. Individual mentorship and group discussions will give you the opportunity to discuss and present your work and learn about ink art throughout history.

Base Tuition: $345 + Material Fee: $25 = $370 Total

  • What You Will Learn:
    - To interpret Imagery by using line, texture, washes, mark making
    - Learn about positive and negative space, composition, close-ups
    - Learn about shading using hatching, feathering, cross-hatching, washes and more
    - To develop ideas, edit and present your work

Oehmsen-Clark, Tina
Tina Oehmsen-Clark

Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
