Youth: Watercolour, Ink & Stories: Painting with your Imagination

This course is a perfect fit for young artists (ages 10-14) who want to explore the magical world of storytelling through watercolour and ink. Each week, we’ll dive into a new theme—mythical creatures, characters, enchanted forests, ancient symbols, and everyday dreams—while learning foundational and experimental art techniques like color blending, brushwork, line illustration and ink drawing.
You will learn to develop your own characters through prompts, games and collaborative stories and express your imagination, transforming words and ideas into vibrant, expressive artworks.
Base Tuition: $550 + Material Fee: $25 = $575 Total

- What You Will Learn:
-Learn how to use watercolor and ink techniques to create expressive artworks, including washes, line work, blending and experimental techniques.
-Learn how to demonstrate creativity and personal expression by developing original illustrations inspired by prompts, stories, and personal ideas.
-Learn how to understand basic narrative structure (beginning, middle, end) and apply it visually in sequential or single-frame illustrations.
-Learn how to collaborate and share ideas through class discussions, group storytelling exercises, displaying your work and critiques.

-Sketchbook
-Pocket size watercolour kit and 2 or three round and flat brushes (small and medium size)
-Brush tip markers and Fine Liner Pen (black, 0.8)-Pencils (F, HB. 2B, 3B), eraser and sharpener

Tina Oehmsen-Clark
Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
