Nocturne Nature:Painting the Night Landscape

6 Week Class | Available

In this course, we’ll explore how to depict the quiet beauty and mystery of the natural world after dark. Through guided exercises and projects, students will learn how to paint night landscapes - ranging from forests, seascapes and mountains - by focusing on colour mixing, lighting effects, and composition. We’ll study works by renowned artists known for their nocturnes to understand how they approached light, shadow, and atmosphere in nighttime settings. Emphasis will be placed on developing a strong sense of mood and depth using limited palettes, subtle contrasts, and creative lighting sources such as moonlight or lamps.
