Colour Theory & Colour Mixing

4 Day Workshop | Registration opens 2025-04-15 12:00 PM

This workshop will focus on painting projects geared toward teaching colour harmonies and colour theory to better understand and control the outcome of your colour mixing. The paintings you create will teach you colour theory tricks that give the illusion of light and shadow and bring a rich depth and luminosity to your paintings.

Notes: This workshop is recommended for students with painting experience. Acrylic paint is recommended for quick drying.

Base Tuition: $425 + Material Fee: $15 = $440 Total

  • What You Will Learn:
  • - Learn to mix the colour you want, without any struggle, using the Johannes Itten colour - Learn how to create light, shade and great luminosity in your paintings through and exercise of copying a master work in greyscale and then in colour
  • - Study harmonies:
  • Learn the effect of warm vs. cool light to evoke specific emotions in your paintings and to create depth, dramatic shadows and reflected light

Roberta McNaughton

Roberta lives in Toronto, Ontario and has degrees from both the Ontario College of Art and Design and Guelph University. Her work has been exhibited in both public and commercial galleries in Toronto, as well as art fairs and commercial galleries in Los Angeles and London, England. McNaughton’s paintings are held in corporate collections (TD Bank) and in the collection of the National Archives in Ottawa. She has received several Ontario Arts Council

grants including a mid-career grant.
