Botanicals: Sketching & Journaling
4 Day Workshop | Registration opens 2025-04-15 12:00 PM
In this workshop, we will explore botanicals with various media including pencils, colour pencils, fine liner pens, markers and watercolours. Through demonstrations and short presentations, you will learn how to identify and draw plants, use and combine media, create description and memory notes, resulting in a unique and individual journal. We will draw from observation in and out of the studio including field trips drawing on site and taking photographs (weather permitting).
Note: This course is open to students 15 yrs and up
Base Tuition: $360 + Material Fee: $15 = $375 Total

- What You Will Learn:
- Interpreting Nature by using patterns, composition, detail, close-ups and repetition
- Exploring various dry and wet media in a sketchbook that will serve as a Diary at the end of the workshop
- To develop ideas, edit and present your work
- To describe Botanicals with line, form, shape, value, colour and texture as well as adding text
Tina Oehmsen-Clark
Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
