Youth: Printmaking & Collage (11-16yrs)

If you love to learn how to draw and print with various media, including block printing and India inks, and want to learn about various collage techniques, this course is for you! We will be creating Lino Cuts and printing with Gelli plates as well as exploring the Blotted Line technique, using some of the prints and various other materials for collages. We will also explore a combination of drawing, collaging and printing. Your sketchbook will be used as a scrapbook, documenting and displaying part of the work you created in this exciting course.

- Learn about Printing in a historical, contemporary and applied context
- Learn about printing ideas and monoprinting, materials and processes
- Exploring and developing ideas, editing and presenting
- Learning about Collage as an art form in historical and contemporary context
- Learn about Collage techniques, cutting, layering, composition, positive and negative space
- - Sketchbook, mixed media paper (9x12”)
- Good pair of scissors and Exacto knife
- Glue Stick and liquid glue for paper with applicator (for example Tombow)
- Magazines, photos and Imagery for Collages
- Small Gelli Plate for block printing inks
- Brayer/Roller
- Fine liner pens and markers
More materials will be supplied as needed.
Tina Oehmsen-Clark
Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
