Powdered Graphite & Acrylic Glazes

3 Day Workshop ONLINE | Available

This ONLINE, three week workshop will include live stream webcam demonstrations that will illustrate how to prepare surfaces with a unique mix of light moulding paste, Golden Absorbent ground and water, as well as how to use powdered graphite mixed with acrylic mediums in a monochromatic grayscale (Grisaille) style. The second part will be how to apply transparent colour glazes, accenting and enhancing the first layers of powdered graphite (this effect has the immediacy and delicacy of Japanese brush painting with the longevity and practicality of acrylic painting).

The 3 consecutive Monday mornings will be structured with instructional demo sessions. Students will have some time to start their work but they will be expected to work independently during the rest of the week using the techniques presented. Students will document and upload their work to an assigned Google Drive folder. These files will be reviewed in-class with recommendations. The remainder of the morning sessions will include additional material demos, PowerPoint presentations and discussions on painting techniques.

Notes:
- It is recommended that students have previous drawing and painting skills for this workshop. This is not appropriate for the absolute beginner.
- Students need a working knowledge of using their computers with Zoom, cameras or cell phones for documenting and uploading finished files. A moderate amount of tech support will be provided.
- This course will take place on April 14, 21 & 28th.

Base Tuition: $204 + Material Fee: $12 = $216 Total
