Acrylic Next Steps: Contemporary Impressionism

11 Week Class ONLINE | Available

Impressionism is an extremely popular historical style. Characteristics of Impressionist painting include visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light in all its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), simple subject matter, movement as a crucial element of human perception and unusual visual angles. Short, thick strokes of paint are used to quickly capture the essence of the subject, rather than its details. The paint is often applied impasto in the last stages. We will look at various acrylic techniques for emulating the Impressionist experience and explore contemporary painters who have been influenced by the Impressionist vision.

We will work on stretched "canvas or Canvas Paper Pads by Canson on sizes from 12" x 16" to 16" x 20" sizes. A choice of images for each class will be emailed to participants a day before class begins.

Note:
Some painting experience is recommended.
