Youth: Sketch and Sculpture (13-17 yrs)

This course is a perfect fit for young artists who love to work with a variety of materials and explore the possibilities of sketching, drawing and sculpting. You will be sketching out ideas for 3 dimensional works as well as drawing from objects, sculptures and imagination with dry and wet media. Sculptures will be created with paper, plaster, clay, wire and found objects and you will learn to transform your ideas into 3 dimensional works. Group discussions and individual mentorship, as well as presentations of art and artists in this context will be part of each class, taking place in a professional studio environment. Field trips will also be part of this exciting opportunity.

- What You Will Learn:
- Learn to sketch and draw with various media including water colour, charcoal, ink, graphite and more
- Learn about materials, processes and tools

- Learn about shape, form, weight, surface, line, repetition, display, light

- Sketchbook, mixed media paper (9”x12”)
- Box of willow charcoal (various sizes)
- Kneadable eraser
- Pocket size watercolour kit and 2 or three round brushes (small and medium size)
- Brush tip markers and fine liner pen (black, 0.8)
- Pencils (F, HB. 2B, 3B), eraser and sharpener
- Scissors, Exacto knife, glue stick

Tina Oehmsen-Clark
Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
