The Painters' Studio

11 Week Class ONLINE | Available

This ONLINE course will be an independent driven course focusing on larger and smaller-scaled works. Students need to have a desire to follow their own path and choice of painting styles. These choices will be discussed and mentored by the instructor in both group and personal discussions. Subjects can be derived from personal photo-based images, drawings and abstractions. The choices by each student will be reviewed in the first weeks of the course. This will not be an "all students work on the same subject matter" type of course.

Technical approaches to painting in either oils or acrylics will be discussed. Some paint demonstrations will be done live or with PowerPoint presentations. Emphasis will be on understanding and developing multi-layered paintings including: foundation stains, Imprimatura grounds, textured layering, impasto mark making, acrylics and oils in one painting, and the importance of glazes.

Students will be expected to be working on their own selected projects during weekly classes and over the course. Students will also share their progress weekly via their Zoom computer cameras and Google drive.

Note: It is recommended that students have taken an Introduction to Painting course, or have previous painting experience and a desire to work on their own chosen subject matter.

Base Tuition: $495 + Material Fee: $10 = $505 Total
