Painting Fundamentals & Beyond
10 Week Class | This course is currently not open for registration.
In this course, through exercises and working from image references and life observation, you will learn how to simplify and paint what you see around you, providing a strong foundation in either acrylic or oil paints.
Once comfortable with paint application, we will go over the theory of light and shade and observe how shapes, values and edges can be used to render basic geometric forms and then more complex still life objects, giving them the illusion of 3 dimensions. Starting with black and white studies, we will move to painting in various limited, and then full colour palettes. The theory of colour will be explained and applied to mixing and matching of colours that you see. We will explore composition through several quick tonal and colour studies. Other concepts like focal point, depth and atmosphere will also be addressed. Returning students will be able to work on a series of more complex projects ranging from still life, to landscapes and figurative subjects.
Note: You can choose to paint either in Acrylic or in Oil paints.
Base Tuition: $480.00
