Painting 1 & 2
10 Week Class | This course is currently not open for registration.
This is a mixed level, process based painting course with an emphasis on development and expansion of visual language skills. Students are encouraged to work on structured exercises that lead to developing individual projects. We will explore fundamental painterly concerns such as light and shadow, colour relationships, paint handling, composition, abstraction, gesture, energy, intention and personal expression. Working from observation of still life, figure and landscape, classes include structured exercises, inspirational lectures based on contemporary and historical painting, demonstrations and critiques with the emphasis on painting time in a supportive environment. The course content takes direction from the issues and needs that arise in the previous class. Beginners are welcome and brought into a process by the group. Students will have an opportunity to develop their own voice through ongoing painting practice.
Note: Students can paint in either acrylics or oils.
Base Tuition: $480 + Model Fee: $30 + Material Fee: $12 = $522 Total
