In this course we will break down the painting process into stages so that they can be accomplished and personalized, as students continue their journey with paint. Students will follow observational techniques to create descriptive images from photographs, and use their own heads as reference. We will also work from (still) life. We will go over the basics of creating a pictorial image using lights and darks, as well as colour. Exercises build and expand the painters’ toolbox of approaches to help demystify the painting process. Short demonstrations will be given to help construct paintings, and we will discuss painters working representationally (non-abstract) with slides and short critiques of class work.
This course is intended for beginners in acrylic and water-based oil painters. Some experience with observational drawing will be helpful.
Base Tuition: $385 + Material Fee: $10 = $395 Total
