Botanicals & Insects: Drawing & Printmaking

This ONLINE course is designed for students who want to learn how to draw botanicals and insects! Explore the possibilities of drawing, printing, collaging and more with a variety of wet and dry media including ink, water colour, pencils and pencil crayons. You will be introduced to monoprinting, using gelli plates which offer exciting possibilities for exploration - including self made stencils, printing plates, stamps, image transfers, botanical prints (with fresh and dried leaves), flowers, grasses, roots and more. Presentations and demonstrations will give you an insight of the imagery of the botanical and the insect art world. Individual feedback will be part of each session and handouts/links for further exploration will be provided.
In order to create a safe and fun studio atmosphere all students are expected to present online with video and sound, share images and participate in group and individual discussions and mentorship.
Note: There will be no class on February 19th, due to the Family Day Holiday.
Base Tuition: $385 + Material Fee: $10 = $395 Total

Tina Oehmsen-Clark
Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
