Youth Art Studio 1 offers young artists 12-17 years old, the opportunity to explore clay hand building techniques in our ceramics studio in the mornings as well as drawing, sketching and mixed media approaches in the afternoon. Weather permitting, we will also sketch outside and at the AGO. This is a great opportunity to expand your creativity and learn about various processes, materials and techniques through group instruction and review, as well as one on one mentorship by the instructor.

Base Tuition: $365 + Material Fee: $20 = $385 Total

  • What You Will Learn:
    -
    To create a sculpture/object with various hand building techniques with clay
    - To develop ideas through sketching and editing
    - To use watercolour, ink, pastels and markers in your sketchbook
    - Learn about mixed media techniques including collage and collagraph
    - To discuss and present your work

  • Sketchbook, mixed media paper (9” x 12”)

    Pocket size watercolor kit and 2 or 3 round brushes (small and medium size)

    Brush tip markers and Fine Liner Pen (black, 0.8)

    Pencils (F, HB, 2B, 3B), eraser and sharpener

Tina Oehmsen-Clark

Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
