Painting: Abstracting the Figure

6 Week Class | This course is completed

This course introduces students to painting the figure through the lens of abstraction. Using a combination of live models and photographic sources, students will make paintings that go beyond straightforward representational depictions of the figure. We will look at examples of historical and contemporary artists who work with the figure and abstraction. Students will discover the narrative and expressive qualities of an inventive approach to figure painting and delve into the fertile ground between representation and abstraction.

Notes:
- This course will be taught using acrylic paint and techniques.
- There is no class on August 8th (long weekend).

Base Tuition: $318 + Model Fee: $27 = $345 Total
