Introduction to Ceramics

8 Week Class | This course is completed

This course is an introduction to fundamental ceramics skills, designs and methods. Students will gain hands-on experience to learn and practice ceramic techniques with guided potter’s wheel, decoration, coil and slab building instruction. Suitable for beginners and those with some experience, students will be encouraged to consider design in their work, with individual support and in-studio materials available to inspire ideas. The course will also include instruction in safety procedures, proper use and cleanup of hand tools  and studio equipment. 

Base Tuition:
$365 + Material Fee: $55 = $420 Total

Packer, Jon
Jon Packer

Jon is a graduate of the 3-D design degree program at Ravensbourne School of Art and Design (now Ravensbourne University) in London, UK with a Bachelor of Arts in ceramics. After graduation, Jon established a thriving clay studio in London, taught adult classes, and exhibited and produced commissioned work for home and retail. On relocating to Toronto, Jon has taught ceramics to youth and adults, exhibited in the city, curated an extensive exhibit of  contemporary British ceramics and was invited to join the Board of Directors of the Ontario Crafts Council. Jon has pursued his own arts practice and continues to apply his teaching to help more students benefit from enjoying their own experience with clay. Jon was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of the Gardiner Museum in Toronto and provides public relations support to the Toronto School of Art.
