The Portrait: Colour & Design

6 Week Class ONLINE | This course is completed

From Picasso's blue period to Frederick Varley's emerald figures, colour can be a key element of memorable portrait drawings and paintings. This online course explores colour from psychological, cultural and theoretical points of view.

Each week, we will explore the meaning and expressive potentialities of a different colour through the lens of the portrait. We will look at colour association, the emotions of colour and learn colour theory in context. We will discover the range of possibilities using mixed-media materials and create expressive contemporary portrait drawings and paintings with an emphasis on narrative, colour and design - drawing inspiration from artists and designers who have used the portrait as their subject and inspiration.

Base Tuition: $280 + Model Fee: $70 = $350 Total
