All Levels

February 15, 2022-April 5, 2022

6:00 PM-9:00 PM on Tue

$461.00 CAD

This course focuses on capturing life, energy and emotion in figure-drawing by teaching students gesture drawing skills, a fundamental skill that can be used for a variety of subjects including people, animals, still-life set-ups, outdoor environments and more!

Strong gesture drawing focuses specifically on capturing the essential form of your subject, it's position in space, and movement, absent of surface detail. Using live models and primarily short poses, we’ll work on capturing the gesture through a variety of exercises including emphasis on line of action, major direction of the pose, how masses in the body control the movement and how to emphasize different expressions. We'll introduce colour to further enhance emotion in our drawings and focus on proportion, negative shape studies and comparative measurements. All skill levels are welcome!

Classes will include live demo drawings, student critiques, and handouts. Optional homework assignments will be offered each week and reviewed as a class. Homework exercises will include; gesture drawings of hands, pets, and objects around your home.

Base Tuition: $360 + Model Fee: $93 + Material Fee: $8 = $461 Total
