In this course we will explore the Codex: the historical ancestor of the modern book. Originally, they contained handwritten pages of vellum, papyrus or other materials and their elaborate historical bindings came to be called treasure bindings. These luxurious book covers were made using metalwork in gold or silver, jewels and ivory in addition to the more common bookbinding materials such as leather, velvet, or other types of cloth.

In our 5 weeks together, we will explore and learn how to create our own treasured books and covers.

Base Tuition: $265 + Material Fee: $30 = $295 Total
