This 6 week beginner's course will help students to get started drawing realistic and three-dimensional forms. Through online demos, slide shows and images, students will learn observational drawing techniques combined with traditional approaches to build drawing confidence and comfort. The instructor will break down each topic in detail and discuss the reasoning behind the importance of each approach. As students progress with each demo they will begin to build an understanding of drawing and make informed decisions within the artistic process.

Akhavan, Anahita

Anahita is a painter and arts educator based in Toronto, Canada. In her visual art practice, she explores an abstract visual language that illustrates her memories and cultural signifiers. She investigates the symbolic patterns and ornaments that have been used in Islamic architecture and tapestry. She has mounted solo exhibitions at Snelgrove Gallery (Saskatoon) and Negarkhane Honarha Gallery (Tehran). She has also participated in select group shows at the Artscape Youngplace (Toronto), Art Parkdale International (Toronto), University of Montana, (Missoula) and University of Lethbridge, (Lethbridge). In 2018, she participated in an artist residency, Joya: arte+ ecología, Spain. In 2016, she was awarded the ICCC grant to curate the show, Voyage to Vorres Museum in Athens, Greece. She received her MFA from University of Saskatchewan in 2017.
