25200 Studio Weaving Waitlist

Class | Available

Studio Weaving offers an opportunity for an extended experience in weaving. Instructors serve as mentors, guiding weavers to explore more complex skills and concepts. Students design projects of their own choosing in order to expand knowledge of methods and techniques. Beginning weavers are welcome to join a studio. Studios are routinely filled, but openings occur.  For each day and time-frame, two 8 or 9 week sessions run consecutively each semester. Cost is $200 to $223 per session depending on session length.

  • To be admitted to a Weaving Studio, join the waitlist via our online registration system. Wait-listed students will be informed of openings in Studios on a first come, first served basis. You will remain on the waitlist until you are placed in a Studio or you request to be removed from the waitlist.

It may take awhile to be admitted to a Studio because the Center has a limited number of dedicated studio looms available. In the meantime, to expand your weaving experience, we encourage you to participate in any of our weaving workshops, or to suggest classes in specific structures or techniques you’d like to learn.

Robards, Joyce
Joyce Robards

After a career of more than ten years in fine arts and art education, I “discovered” fiber arts while on a sabbatical leave earning my MST in textiles at RIT. Following graduation, participation in the active and knowledgeable Weavers’ Guild of Rochester and volunteer work for HGA gave me different, but equally valuable, perspectives on the craft of handweaving. I began my professional weaving life on the local craft show circuit, but the joy of teaching continued to beckon. I now meld my drive to create and the irrepressible urge to work with fibers with teaching. I enjoy sharing both my professional knowledge and experience-honed skills and my unique perspectives on the fiber crafts in the classes, workshops and programs I offer. I am one of the “founding members” of the Weaving and Fiber Arts Center, and in addition to a regular schedule of weaving and other textile technique classes there, I present programs and workshops for fiber-related Guilds and conferences, and produce a limited line of handwovens for sale.
