Olson, H

Heather Olson has been a handweaver for almost 30 years. Taking her first weaving class with Margaret Carr at RMSC, she bought a loom after only one class. She earned a B.F.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology in Textile Design, and went on to earn an M.S. in Textile Design from Philadelphia University. After graduate school, she worked for a textile mill in New Jersey for 12 years designing upholstery fabrics woven on jacquard looms. She has been active in various weaving guilds in NJ, NC and NY, doing demonstrations and leading workshops. A few years ago, she fell in love with dyeing yarn at a MAFA workshop. Heather enjoys experimenting with one-of-a-kind painted warps, and sells a line of scarf kits. Her love of textiles extends to many areas; including weaving, knitting, spinning, sewing and dyeing.
