This presentation by Roosevelt University OT faculty will provide an overview of occupational therapy, including the profession’s history, development, and continuing role in supporting health, independence, participation, and quality of life across the lifespan.

A historical video will offer deeper understanding of the social, medical, and rehabilitation movements contributing to the profession’s development.

Roosevelt University’s new hybrid program includes online coursework, laboratory experiences, fieldwork education, and intensive on-campus learning activities.

ICL members will have an opportunity to collaborate as community volunteers during the program’s fall and spring immersive experiences at the Schaumburg campus, as the speaker will describe.

The session will conclude with a guided tour of Roosevelt University’s occupational therapy laboratories and instructional spaces. Participants will view rehabilitation equipment, adaptive devices, assessment tools, simulated home environments, and other resources used in the program.
