Class | Available (Membership Required)
“And the winner for Best Actor in a major film is …”. “And this year’s Tony for Best Actor goes to …”. Some performing artists move seamlessly from stage to screen. Others prefer to stay with one venue. Renowned actor Morgan Freeman has delivered award-winning performances on both the stage and the screen. During his twenty-year tenure on the stage, Freeman received a Drama Desk award for The Mighty Gents as well as three Obie awards for sustained excellence in acting. Then he moved to film earning five Oscar nominations and capturing the statue for his performance in Million Dollar Baby. Using his illustrious career, this course will discuss the difference between stage and screen acting, what make a strong acting ensemble, and what benchmarks are used to evaluate a performance. *No acting required but lots of lively discussion is encouraged!
