Vested Interests vs. Outsiders When Facing Tough Problems as Exemplified in the Film "Longitude" Z

Class | Available (Membership Required)

We’ll view the film Longitude as a launch pad for discussions on the clash between Vested Interests

and Outsiders’ Ideas. Be prepared to watch an entertaining story that chronicles two “outsiders” –

one from the 18th century and another from the 20th century – as they each struggle to accomplish

worthy objectives. By using scenes from Longitude plus other examples we’ll probe the question of

how well “the way we’ve always done it” works when solving tough problems. You’ll leave this study

group with much more than an understanding of longitude.
