I Love the Clarinet! Z

Class | Available (Membership Required)

Come hear why I love the clarinet and perhaps you will too.  The clarinet is an important part of many musical styles from classical to pop, from the concert hall to the jazz club, and from the 1780's to today.  Presenter Bob Silverstein has been playing the clarinet since age 14 in 1959.  He has played in many community bands and orchestras.  Bob still plays in an orchestra and band and still takes lessons.  He will share his knowledge, experience and love of the instrument.

The first session will be an introduction to the clarinet, what it is, the different kinds, and its history.  Professional clarinetist Matt Bordoshuk will demonstrate several instruments ranging from the very small to the very large.  The second session will show how it is used in many forms of music such as symphonic, chamber, jazz, movies, musicals, and klezmer.

Prerequisite: curiosity; no music ability or knowledge required.

Presented by guest speaker, Bob Silverstein
