Class | Available (Membership Required)

This two-session discussion group will build upon the insights from the 2021 study group on "Free Speech in the 21st Century," diving deeper into how free speech boundaries have evolved in 2025. Participants will explore historical precedent, current laws, significant court cases, and executive orders issued by Donald Trump, analyzing their impact on modern First Amendment protections.

The discussion will also examine free speech rights for immigrants, including recent cases where individuals faced visa revocations or detentions due to their political speech. Additionally, participants will review Trump’s executive orders targeting law firms that represented his opponents or pursued cases against him. The group will also analyze lawsuits filed by Trump against media companies, assessing their implications for press freedom and government influence over journalism.?Acting as judges, participants will examine real-world scenarios and legal arguments to define the scope of free speech in today's rapidly changing landscape
