Over time we have experienced many disasters. They may have been caused by natural circumstances, accidents, negligence or purposeful actions. Studying history we know that disasters have periodically occurred. Have we learned from these experiences how to avoid or mitigate them in the future? We might think that our questions have been answered, yet many mysteries remain. Perhaps by reaching back in history we can gain some wisdom and discover methods to avert future incidents.
