Drawing Explorations 2

This course is for students with some drawing experience who want to explore further traditional and non-traditional techniques through wet and dry media on various supports, creating abstract and representational works including mark making, texture, line, colour and composition. Group discussions and critiques as well as individual mentorship will lead to one or more individually geared series of works. Through presentations, demonstrations and investigations you will explore drawing as an expressive art form that can bridge art disciplines including sculpture, installation and performance.

  • What You Will Learn:
    - Explore various wet and dry media on various grounds including paper, yupo and wood
    - Discover media and learn to create a series of works
    - Learn about idea finding processes and learn to edit from preliminary work
    - Learn about historical and contemporary artists in context
  • Material List:
    - Willow Charcoal, mixed size and large sticks
    - Kneadable erasers
    - Set of soft pastels
    - Small bottle of India and Sumi Ink.
    - Dr. Ph. Martin’s Concentrated radiant Water colours
    - White conte sticks
    - Yupo paper (to be discussed)
    - Graphite Sticks
    - Pad of Cartridge Paper Brushes (to be discussed)

Oehmsen-Clark, Tina
Tina Oehmsen-Clark

Tina's work has always been an exploration between various art forms, including sound, dance, installation, sculpture and drawing. She has exhibited in various galleries, museums and public spaces in Germany, Denmark and Canada. Since moving to Toronto in 1996, Oehmsen-Clark has worked on art projects at the AGO, Ryerson Student Gallery, Dancemakers and Wychwood Artscape. Besides her own art practice, she has taught in a number of schools and institutions including TSA. Tina always enjoys working with a wide age range, and believes that teaching art is an interactive learning process, both to inspire and be inspired.
