Do you have a story inside, waiting to be told? Are you struggling to begin? To keep going? To figure out where you’ll end up?

Welcome to the writing life. Come to this workshop and launch yourself into it. Share your work with supportive, thoughtful

classmates. Discuss fundamentals of craft —structure, point-of-view, narrative strategy — and how they bring a story to life.

Develop your unique voice: the compelling, entertaining, and guiding presence that draws readers deeply into your stories.

In addition to sharing student work, we’ll read and discuss short works and excerpts by a variety of published writers. We’ll also

generate new work as we respond to writing prompts. The class is for those who have begun, however tentatively or long

ago, their creative writing projects. Memoirs, novels, short stories, and personal essays are welcome.

Deborah Harris Deborah’s work has appeared in Dissent Magazine, The Southampton Review, and Five on the Fifth. She

earned her MALS in literature from Wesleyan University and MFA in fiction writing from Sarah Lawrence College. She teaches

virtual creative writing classes here at Hudson River Community Education, and at Writer House in Charlottesville, Virginia.
